After thirty minutes of gunfight between villagers of Ghadames, the Libyan security personnel and armed bandits who terrorized the small town killing a Gambian and other civilians in their wake, police have succeeded in nabbing four armed men among them.
According to reports reaching The Standard, four men were arrested by the police and waiting for due prosecution accordingly. Among the charges they will face is the murder of Gambian Alfusainey Sinera, who was killed last Friday 7 March in Ghadames, Libya.
Mr. Sinera met his untimely death when armed men believed to be drunk, came to attack a neigbourhood where some Gambian immigrants were living. They have terrorized that neigbhbourhood for almost thirty minutes before the arrival of armed Police and security men.
He attempted to close the door
“Alfusainey met his untimely death after receiving shots to his head and abdomen, when he attempted to close the door from the attackers. He was the very one who cooked dinner for us on that very night,” said Bakary Jammeh, Mr Sinera’s roommate in Libya, who is also from The Gambia.
Mr Jammeh said the firing took almost an hour, and thanks to the people of Ghadames who stood up and defended their community with guns before the arrival of armed police and soldiers. “Many people were taken hostage before the arrival and intervention of the villagers. They were able to protect the remaining civilian population before the arrival of the Police,” Mr. Jammeh explained.
Closing the door amidst raining bullets
“We were together at the same neighbourhood but not in the same house when the attack started. When I first heard the gun firing, I managed to move almost a hundred meters away, watching the situation from this distance, but some were hiding in the house with my late friend,” Jameh narrated
“Thank God that his death found him on his praying mat. The operation found him doing Isha`a (evening) prayers as he prayed the first two rakas. Shots started firing just before he started the second raka. Sinera ran to close the door amidst raining bullets while everyone in the house was running to hide. Oh My God, Alfusainey went to answer to his lord Allah,” said Mr. Jammeh.
